We have to admit, Cardi B for Congress does have quite the ring to it.
The Bronx-born rapper took to Twitter over the weekend to express her surprising desire to potentially run for office one day. Cardi, who is an avid Twitter user, has publicly and consistently expressed her disapproval of President Donald Trump and her disappointment in the American government’s handling of recent crises, such as family separations at the border and the January 2019 government shutdown.
“I think I want to be a politician,” tweeted Cardi B. “I really love government even tho I don’t agree with Goverment [sic].”
In case anyone is wondering why Cardi decided to randomly tweet about her potential career pivot, the rapper went on to credit her recent political pondering to the influence of binge-watching war documentaries.
“Like I was watching War documentaries. No matter how many weapons a country have you need people! How are you trying to go against a country and possibly start a war when this country lacks patriotism?” continued Cardi in regard to recent developments of America’s increasing tensions with Iran. “I barely see people claiming they LOVE being American.”
The rapper tweeted only a few days ago that she was entertaining the idea of applying for Nigerian citizenship. Along with her husband—Migos member Offset—Cardi recently visited and completed a mini tour of West Africa late last year.
“I do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress,” added Cardi. “I deadass have sooo much ideas that make sense. I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table.”
