Cardi B has jokingly revealed that she was actually planning to perform her controversial, explicit hit “WAP” during the inauguration special for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
However, she was not able to perform at the U.S. Capitol due to a “dentist appointment.”
“Ugh I was supposed to perform Wap at the inauguration today but I had a dentist appointment,” she tweeted. “….maybe next time.”
The inauguration special was hosted by Tom Hanks and featured performances from Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line‘s Tyler Hubbard, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, and Bruce Springsteen.
“WAP” became a political issue last year after conservative pundits and politicians took issue with song’s explicit sexual content.
Cardi had initially backed Senator Bernie Sanders for the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. However, she later supported Biden after he secured the nomination. She endorsed the former Vice President and also interviewed him during the campaign.
