Charley Webb, 33, shared a hilarious snap with her 515,000 Instagram followers this afternoon, which saw herself and Emma Atkins, 46, sporting makeshift unibrows and stubble. The picture sparked more than 150 comments from Emmerdale fans who just could not get over the girls’ new look.

The pair also wore flannel shirts – a common wardrobe choice for Jeff Hordley’s character Cain Dingle – and Charley even went the extra mile by wearing short, black wig.

The actress simply captioned the picture: “Theme was Cain Dingle.

“I think we did well @missemmaatkins.”

Emma, who herself has 169,000 Instagram followers, peered menacingly over her co-star’s shoulder and also had fans in stitches.

Several celebrities chimed in, including former Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward, 35, who famously played Katie Sugden in the ITV soap opera from 2001 to 2015.

“I can’t cope with this picture one bit,” she wrote.

Skin and beauty expert Nilam Holmes also commented: “Oh noooo I quite fancied Cain before I saw this.”

Emmerdale viewers also flooded the comments section with laughing emojis and compliments on a job well done.

One fan, Carole Wallace, commented: “I’m about to watch Emmerdale.

“Could be painful when I see Cain after seeing this,” she added with a laughing emoji.

Emma and her co-star Jeff, 51, have been part of the on-screen Dingle family since 2000, with their younger co-star Charley appearing for the first time as Debbie Dingle in 2002.

Charley has not appeared on the ITV soap as Debbie since February and reportedly has “no plans to return” to the show due to her busy life as a mum to three boys, although it has been noted that the “door is always open” for her to make a comeback.

Emma, who has been playing her character Charity for over two decades, is still a big part of the show today.

The only time the star took a long break from the soap was when she went on maternity leave, which was explained in the storyline with Charity’s time in prison.

Of course, Emma couldn’t let fans know that Charity would be found guilty at her court case, so the actress actually had to conceal her pregnancy for eight months.

Meanwhile, long-time Emmerdale actor Jeff continues to play local hardman Cain in the Dales.

The actor is married to his Emmerdale co-star Zoe Henry, 48, who plays Rhona Goskirk on the show.

The star recently revealed, however, that he never shares any scenes with his spouse, as they split childcare duties while filming the soap.

Jeff has yet to comment on Charley and Emma’s fancy-dress attempt, but the stars appear to all be very friendly with one another.

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale saw newcomer Esme, played by actress Eva Fontaine, arrive in the Dales with a major bombshell.
