Country legend Dolly Parton has revealed that she does, indeed, have several “secret” tattoos.
On the finale of the 9-episode NPR podcast, “Dolly Parton’s America” hosted by the creator of Radiolab & More Perfect Jad Abumrad, the 73-year-old star was prompted to clear up rumors about her alleged tattoos by a group of students at the University of Tennessee, who are currently studying the larger impact of Parton’s work on society.
“I have a few tattoos on my body. They are not meant to be tattoos for the sake of tattoos,” Parton admitted, adding that her fair skin is prone to scarring, which is an issue that she has spoken about in the past.
She continued, “So I, when I first started gettin’ a few little things done, I had a few little tattoos to cover up the scarring.”
Parton also revealed that the tattoos consist of butterflies, lace, and bows, but she remained quiet as to the number and exact location of the tattoos.
