The Only Way Is Essex star James Argent has unveiled the gruelling workout regime which helped him to lose an impressive 13 stone in weight.
The reality star, 34, had been warned he must lose weight after reaching 27 stone at his heaviest, with doctors telling him straight to ‘lose weight or die’.
For the past year, James – known as Arg – has slimmed down with the help of a gastric sleeve as well as changing his diet and exercising.
The Towie favourite made headlines this week as his dramatic weight loss was revealed in new photos taken at an outdoor pool in Essex.
Now the huge amount of work that went into his transformation has been revealed, as his gym, Boxup, shared an astonishing video showcasing the past year of Arg’s life.
It reveals the high-pressure, gruelling regime the star was put through to help him keep his desire to be ‘fit as a fiddle’ by the following year, with Arg boxing, running, swimming and being put through his paces by his personal trainer.
The video begins with Arg at his heaviest, showing off his body and predicting that, before too long, he would be ‘shredded’.
A montage of clips then shows Arg boxing, running through the streets, and working out in the gym with his PT.
It then switches to show the newspaper headlines commenting on his weight loss, before swapping to further clips of Arg, now several stones lighter, continuing to work out at the gym.
At this point Arg looks unrecognisable as he skips rope and expertly faces off against a heavy punch bag.
The video finishes with a side-by-side comparison of Arg when he was warned he needed to lose weight, with a photo of him now.
Arg’s gym shared the video alongside a praising caption which said it was ‘great to see @real_arg Speaking Into Existence On Being Motivated In Becoming Fit & Strong (sic).
‘James Argent Has Dedicated The Last Year Into Dropping Down His Body Weight And Fat Levels… Alongside A Procedure He Went Through He Had To Put In The Hard Work And Dedication Into Reaching Where He is Now (sic)’.
They added that despite Arg now being miles away from where he first started, he will continue to work out and keep his fitness levels where they are.
Boxup’s astonishing montage comes after Arg reflected on how he manifested his new body by ‘speaking [it] into existence’.
In an Instagram video a year ago, a clip of which was included in the montage, Arg had said: ‘By Christmas or possibly even the end of the summer, this is gonna be shredded, the back fat is going to be gone, the thighs are going to be skinny and the arms are going to be pumped.’
He promised: ‘I’m going to be fit as a fiddle! Fit and strong.’
The former wedding singer recently opened up about how ‘horrible’ he felt at his lowest, saying on Steph’s Packed Lunch: ‘I was always extremely uncomfortable, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.
‘It felt depressing and it just wasn’t me. Now I’m starting to feel like myself again and I’m excited about what the future is going to bring.’
Arg’s lifestyle change came following a near-fatal overdose on Christmas Day in 2019, after which he sought help to beat his drug and alcohol issues.
