Kid Rock has donated $100,000 towards Barstool Sports’ fund to support small businesses affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“This Is The America I Lover!” the singer-songwriter tweeted. “Put me down for 100k. And I only post this in hopes others as blessed as me may be moved to help out.”
According to reports, Kid Rock’s contribution is the the second largest donation made to the fund, behind Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy‘s contribution, who had launched initiative last month and contributed $500,000.
In announcing the program, Portnoy had noted that in order to qualify, businesses need to keep an active payroll. If chosen, money collected from the fundraiser could be allocated to those businesses in order to help keep them going during the COVID-19 shutdown.
The Barstool Fund has raised nearly $17 million and has dozens of beneficiaries coast to coast.
“Hopefully we can save as many small businesses as humanly possible,” Portnoy said.
