Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You” has remained atop Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart for a 29th week, setting a new record for the longest reign on the chart.
“Girls Like You” rules the chart for a 29th week on the list dated July 6. According to Billboard, “Girls Like You” broke the record for the longest run on its Adult Contemporary chart previously held by Uncle Kracker‘s “Drift Away” featuring Dobie Gray, which led for 28 weeks in 2003-04.
In March, Maroon 5’s video for “Girls Like You,” featuring Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Ellen DeGeneres and Jennifer Lopez, reached more than two billion views on YouTube in just 10 months. The video has garnered more than 2.2 billion as of now.
“My goal is to make songs that don’t sound dated 10 years later,” Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine said in an interview.
