GMB: Piers Morgan hits out at ‘shocking’ school meals hamper
Piers Morgan, 55, has long been considered like Marmite – you either love him or you hate him – and he’s completely fine with both. Following Wednesday morning’s Good Morning Britain show where he and Susanna Reid grilled Health Secretary Matt Hancock over the latest uproar about free school meals, Martin Lewis commended him for his honesty over being popular with the public and admitted he “struggles with abuse”.
Thankfully my journalism doesn’t always require skin as thick, I struggle to cope with abuse

After the interview, which was branded a “car crash” for Mr Hancock, many fans and loathers praised Piers for how he held the MP to account.
But he wasn’t interested in being liked.
Taking to Twitter after the interview caused a stir on social media, Piers wrote: “Always amuses me, after an interview like this morning’s with Mr Hancock, how many people start tweets with the words ‘I don’t like Piers Morgan but..,’
“A) I don’t care about liked b) No journalist should care about being liked,” he retorted.

While many took to the comments section to share their thoughts on whether they agreed with him or not, among them was Martin, who admitted he was “envious” over Piers’ “thick skin”.
“I think you have enviably thick skin, which is an advantage in your role as an adversarial interviewer – it allows you to push hard,” he explained.
“Thankfully my journalism doesn’t always require skin as thick, I struggle to cope with abuse.”
He added: “Not sure how you do it to be honest.”

Following Wednesday morning’s Good Morning Britain show where he and Susanna Reid grilled Health Secretary Matt Hancock over the latest uproar about free school meals, Martin Lewis commended him for his honesty over being popular with the public and admitted he “struggles with abuse”.
Responding to his ITV colleague, Piers admitted: “Not easy sometimes but having a brother who’s served in various real wars helps with perspective… sticks and stones etc.”
Others also jumped to defend Martin, with one saying: “Martin if anyone abuses you re-direct them to me you are the only thing that keeps me on the financial straight and narrow and I will protect you at all costs.”
Another agreed: “Martin your advice, support and guidance to your public is amazing. Keep up your great work.”
“Both you & Piers have your strengths that the majority of us are grateful for,” a third reasoned.

A fourth seemed confused: “Not sure why you get any stick to be honest, always looking to help and do good.
“Easier said than done, but ignore them. They are more trying to get a reaction, rather than actually holding anything against you.”
Martin recently apologised for posting a tweet implying Home Secretary Priti Patel’s press conference offered nothing in way of informing the public on anything.
But after posting it, the fan-favourite presenter admitted he “regretted” sharing his thoughts online.
“I do regret tweeting this. I’ve been mulling it,” he wrote.
“It’s unfair to see politicians as fair game, even though I hate it myself. Unless I had watched the press conference myself, its harsh to criticise.”
He added: “I will refrain from similar future tweets.”
GMB airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and The Martin Lewis Money Show is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
