New police video shows Jussie Smollett with noose around his neck after ‘attack’

Chicago police have released 69 hours of video footage related to Jussie Smollett's alleged attack – including one showing him with a NOOSE around his neck.

The Empire actor claimed he was attacked by two men, after they shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him.

In the video footage, Jussie is seen with a noose around his neck and requesting that police turn off their body cams.

The extensive footage has been released by police after they found no incident had taken place and the charges were later dropped by Cook County State's Attorney, Kim Foxx.

Jussie alleged he was attacked on January 29 at around 2am, but police could not find any CCTV footage of the incident that could corroborate his version of events.

Police later determined that he staged the attack and charged him with filing a false police report. Those charges were then later dropped by Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

Jussie has always maintained the alleged attacks took place and one of the clips shows three officers in a room with the actor as one officer refers to the noose asking: "Want to take it off?"

After Jussie removes the noose, he asks if the events were being filmed by an officer's body cam.

The video release comes just days after a judge appointed a special prosecutor to look into the original decision to drop the charges against Jussie.

Foxx had originally dropped the 16 charges about Jussie, back in March, with him posting a $10,000 bail payment and was ordered to 16 hours of community service.

As well as the special prosecutor's investigation, it has also been announced that the FBI will be looking at the case.

The footage begins with police arriving at Jussie's home, after they had received a 911 call.

Jussie claimed that he was attacked by Nigerians brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo, and there is footage that shows their arrest.

Police have since stated that Jussie 'staged' the attack after he wasn't happy with how much he was getting paid for his appearances on Empire, and wanted to create some attention for himself.

The scandal that followed saw Jussie being cut from episodes of Empire that he had already filmed, before being sacked from the show.
