Rio Ferdinand and Kate Wright married in front of friends and family at the five-star luxury D Maris Bay hotel in Turkey on Friday 27 September, and fans of the couple have taken to social media to gush over their wedding.
Kate and Rio’s legions of fans expressed their happiness at the pair getting married after almost three years together, with one person writing: “Kate looks stunning xx So pleased that Rio has found someone who loves not just him but his children. Congratulations to the lovely couple and I hope they live a long and happy life together xx.”
A second fan said: “Wow! Stunning! Congratulations. beautiful couple! Amazing you and your kids have found happiness again after such a difficult time. Wishing you all the happiness in the world!”
A third commented: “Beautiful , They look so happy Kate will be a wonderful step mum she loves the children & they love her Best wishes to the little family.” [sic]
Others gushed: “I am truly happy for them both. She has been his support and they both deserve each other, I wish them the best” and: “Congratulations to you both. Absolutely beautiful photo. You both deserve this happiness. Look after each other.”
Rio’s three children were involved in his and 28 year old Kate’s wedding day – something that the couple tell us was very important.
Rio’s sons, 13 year old Lorenz and 11 year old Tate walked the blushing bride down the aisle, while Rio’s daughter, Tia, eight, was Kate’s maid of honour.
Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine , Kate reflected on the emotional moment.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star said: “Having the boys walk me down the aisle was just amazing. It was a hugely important moment for me and they did so well.
“Seeing Rio at the altar made me feel so happy, I couldn’t wait to get to him.”
She added: “Especially as he was so emotional. It was everything that I had imagined it to be, but I didn’t cry at that moment. I cried all my tears in the morning!”
Rio, 40, also reflected on watching his children take part in the ceremony as the former professional footballer confessed: “Seeing Tia walk up the aisle before Kate set me off.
“It was just so emotional. There was just no going back on the emotion, that’s why I had to keep my shades on!
“Seeing Tate and Lorenz walk Kate down the aisle was particularly poignant and we wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way. They were so proud and they couldn’t wait to do that, they felt important.”
The former Manchester United player added: “Kate was adamant she wanted the kids involved and that is a true reflection of how she is – she wants them involved in every part of our lives.

“We decided the children would have major roles at the wedding, it was so important to us.“
Rio’s three children tragically lost their mum, Rebecca Ellison, to breast cancer in 2015. Since Kate and Rio started dating in 2017, the TV personality has formed a close bond with them.
