This year Billie Eilish won another collection of Grammy Awards for her music. On top of grabbing a gong for her James Bond theme song, No Time To Die, she also won the Record of the Year award for Everything I Wanted. The 19-year-old star has previously revealed her singing career would not have happened if she wasn’t inspired by a singer when she was just a child.
Billie revealed one of her earliest inspirations during an interview with Vanity Fair.
She said: “I find a lot of inspiration through visuals. When I was 12, I saw Aurora’s Runaway music video.
“Something inside me clicked, like, that is what I want to do, no matter whether it goes anywhere or not.”
Aurora is a singer-songwriter from Stavanger, Norway and has been performing since 2012.
Aurora has released two albums so far. Her first was All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend, which was released on March 11, 2016.
The record hit number one in Norway and became a platinum-selling album.
Her follow-up album, A Different Kind of Human (Step 2), was released on June 7, 2019 and also went platinum, but only reached number four on the Norway Album Charts.
Runaway was released in 2015 and features the singer crying out to “get home again”.
Aurora spoke about the track, saying: “It’s strange how this song fits my life better now than I could ever imagine when I wrote the song itself. It’s about how important it is to have a soft place to fall.
She told NME: “I wrote Runaway when I was 11-years-old. It’s quite funny because the older I got, the more it made sense to me. It touched my heart, and now it reminds me of things that happened after I wrote it. It was kind of like a gift to myself.”
Although Runaway is Billie’s favourite song from Aurora, the singer’s biggest commercial hit was alongside Idina Menzel on the Frozen 2 soundtrack.
She sang with the Tony Award Winner on the Disney sequel’s ballad Into the Unknown.

Aurora has spoken out about what she thought of Billie in an interview last year.
She said: “I think the world needs more artists who just do what they want.
“She uses her voice in such a cool way… I will be listening to her more because she must be doing something right. The world seems to adore her right now because she’s really cool.”
Aurora isn’t the only artist Billie has cited on her journey to success.
Previously, the singer spoke out about the pre-show ritual she practises to warm her voice up for live gigs.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2019, Billie spoke about having preparations for her shows, saying: “I did, I used to… The first tour I actually had a song I would warm up with, which was Sabrina Claudio!
“It was… I think it was Unravel Me, or Belong To You. I don’t know. It was always Sabrina Claudio, though. Now I just do vocal warm-ups!”
