Dan Walker shares what he’ll miss most as he quits BBC Breakfast after six years

Dan Walker has revealed what he'll miss the most when he leaves BBC Breakfast later this year.

The 45-year-old presenter announced he's quit the morning programme earlier this month after working on the show for six years.

He's replacing Sian Williams as the news anchor on Channel 5.

Dan took part in a question and answer session with his Instagram followers on Thursday (April 22) and shared his responses on his Instagram story.

One fan asked: "What will you miss most about BBC Breakfast when you leave?"

He replied: That's an easy one… the people (both on and off screen)"

Alongside his answer, Dan shared a throwback snap of him posing on the red carpet alongside some of his BBC Breakfast co-stars including Naga Munchetty, Sally Nugent and Carol Kirkwood.

Dan shared the sofa with Louise Minchin until her departure in September 2021.

I'm A Celebrity star Louise was replaced by Sally Nugent earlier this year.

TV favourite Dan also previously presented the BBC's Saturday morning sports show Football Focus but handed the baton to Alex Scott last year.

In a video shared on his personal Twitter page on April 4, father of three Dan said it was a "massive decision" to leave the BBC but said: "I don't think opportunities like this come around very often."

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant added: "I'm really excited but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast, I love working alongside Sally and I love the team there.

"But Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans and I don't think opportunities like this come around very often and I can't wait.

"And what an honour to step into the shoes of Sian Williams. I know how popular she is with both the team and also the audience, so all I can say is I will do my best to maintain her incredibly high standards.

"Thank you for watching and I'll see you soon on a TV screen somewhere."

Dan is yet to be announced when his final episode will air.

She said: "Dan Walker, welcome to your new home.

"I know what it’s like to move from the BBC Breakfast sofa to the Channel 5 newsroom, I absolutely loved it and I think you will too."

"Have fun and good luck."

She finished the video by blowing a kiss to the camera.
