AceShowbiz –FKA twigs has given “Killer” a music video treatment. The clip shows the English singer enjoying a PDA-filled beach trip in Portugal with her love interest, who is portrayed by actor Aron Piper.
In the footage, helmed by Yoann Lemoine, FKA twigs and Aron can be seen performing stunning choreography by Juliano Nunes. At some point in the clip, the pair are caught sharing passionate kisses.
“Dancin’ in the dark, I can feel it in my heart, you’re a killer/ But I didn’t wanna call it/ Something in the way you put your hands on my waist, pulled me nearer,” the 34-year-old, born Tahliah Debrett Barnett, sings in the chorus. “No, I never wanna call it/ Didn’t wanna call it, didn’t wanna call it/ Took your love for righteous and now I’m in a crisis with a killer.”
About the music video, Yoann said in a press release, “Twigs approached me with a beautiful treatment for ‘Killer’ that she had written about her personal story. It felt empowering and vulnerable at the same time.” The director added, “I said yes instantly when she asked me to direct it.”
“It was the perfect opportunity to portray her in a way that we have not seen before, raw and intimate. The video is about the poison and the fuel that personal trauma is in art,” Yoann continued. “How our experience forces us to create and how sometimes it is only inhibition and violence.”
“Killer” follows the release of Twigs’ buoyant mixtape “Caprisongs”, which was released in January. The project features guest appearances from The Weeknd, Shygirl, Rema and more. In April, she joined the Swedish rapper Yung Lean for the song “Bliss” off of his mixtape “Stardust”.
In a released statement, twigs described “Caprisongs” as her “journey back to [herself] through my amazing collaborators and friends.” She also called it “a bronzer in the sink, alco pop on the side, a cherry lolly, apple juice when ur thirsty, friends in the park, your favourite person, that one sentence somebody said to you that changed everything.”
