One Direction: Liam Payne announces one-off gig – but there’s a catch

One Direction fans have been eager to point out any clues the band may have laid this month. The end of July marks ten years since the quintet were first formed, meaning fans were eager to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their formation. Unfortunately, nothing has been announced just yet, despite a number of reunion rumours.

Thankfully, former band member Liam Payne did announce some good news earlier this week.

Payne has of course been on lockdown due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This unfortunately meant he has not been able to perform any live gigs full of his own – until now.

This week Payne made an announcement about some new live events – however they will be held virtually.

Payne has announced a new gig next week – Friday July 17 – over virtual concert service Veeps.

The star posted some promotional work on his Instagram account to his 20million followers.

He commented: “I’ve been working on something for a while now and I’m so excited to announce Act one of ‘The LP Show’, broadcasting in real time on Friday 17th July!”

“The LP Show” will feature a number of songs performed by Payne being broadcast live for the first time.

He went on to say: “It’s a new approach to a live-streamed show that’ll be up close and personal like you’ve never seen before, exclusively on @veeps.”

Payne went on to detail that tickets were “pay what you want” – however they started at $10 per ticket.

Going on to detail his work, Payne concluded: “To produce the show I’m working with currently out-of-use venues, a full band, as well as professional sound and lighting engineers currently out of work due to Covid-19.

“And I can’t wait to bring you the first in this series of live broadcasts. See you on July 17th! #TheLPShow.”
