American superstar Pink has arrived in Dublin ahead of her sold-out concert in the RDS this evening.
The Funhouse singer (39) kicked-off the European leg of her Beautiful Trauma world tour in Amsterdam at the weekend, and tonight it’s the capital’s turn to enjoy the spectacle.
Thousands of fans will make their way to the southside venue to see her take to the stage shortly after 8.30pm as she pulls out all the stops to give them a night to remember.
She has promised them that “this show might be the best ever” as she gears up to play in Dublin for the first time since 2013.
Tickets to see her in action here sold out in only 30 minutes when they went on sale last October, and the world tour to promote the 2017 album has been getting rave reviews since it started in North America in March last year.
Pink has since taken the tour to Canada, Australia and New Zealand as she proves her dominance on the world stage.
In what has been described as a jaw-dropping performance, she draws on her considerable repertoire of talents to keep the crowd entertained, including performing some impressive aerial stunts and daring acrobatics.
The Grammy-nominated star, who has children Jameson and Willow with husband Carey Hart, also draws on her lengthy back catalogue of hits, which go as far back as Get the Party Started in 2001 up to more recent faves from her latest Beautiful Trauma album such as her political anthem, What About Us.
She will be joined at her Irish date by a number of support artists before the main act, including Bang Bang Romeo and Vance Joy.
Kid Cut will be on stage at 5pm, followed by Bang Bang Romeo at 6.50pm, Vance Joy at 7.40pm and Pink at 8.40pm.
Despite the deluges of recent days that have seen concert-goers getting drenched at outdoor gigs, tonight’s weather is expected to be mild and dry in what will come as some welcome respite.
Doors to the venue will open at 5pm, and organisers reminded ticket-holders not to bring in large handbags or backpacks or to bother queuing overnight.
Umbrellas are also banned, and attendees are advised to check the weather beforehand to make sure they’re appropriately equipped.
General release tickets are completely sold out, but there are still a handful of “hot seat packages” available for €335.
Entertainment publication Variety has heaped praise on Pink’s performances, saying: “I can say without too much fear of hyperbole that, in decades of concert-going and reviewing, Pink’s is the most ‘holy f**king s**t’ act of physicality I’ve ever seen as part of a pop show.”
Her most recent gig in Amsteram went like this:
Get the Party Started
Just Like a Pill
Funhouse / Just a Girl
Just Give Me a Reason
Just Like Fire
What About Us
I Am Here
Walk Me Home
Raise Your Glass
