Watch moment Johnny Depp destroys kitchen after pouring large glass of red wine

A video has emerged in court which shows Johnny Depp destroying his kitchen and smashing cabinets after drinking a large glass of wine.

Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard are currently embroiled in a nail-biting trial after the Hollywood actor sued her for $50million (£38.8m) for defamation, which she is countersuing for $100m (£77.6m).

Over the past week, the former Pirates of the Caribbean star has taken to the stand to give evidence in which he claimed he would “lock himself in a bathroom to avoid Amber Heard’s violence”.

Now, the actor has been made to watch video footage of himself destroying his kitchen in a fit of rage after allegedly drinking a large amount of red wine.

On Thursday (April 21), Depp took to the stand as he watched the footage in which he can be seen shouting “motherf***er” while repeatedly punching a wall.

As 36-year-old Amber asked the actor what had happened to make him so angry, the Sweeney Todd star can be heard smashing around while seemingly throwing items across the room.

She is then heard saying: “All I did was say sorry. Did something happen to you? I don’t think so. You drank this whole thing this morning? You’re smashing s***.”

After the two-minute clip was shown, Heard’s lawyer Ben Rottenborn asked Depp: “This is at your house in West Hollywood. That’s you on the video. You were violent?”

To which the actor responded: “Clearly, I was having a bad time. I don’t know what with regard to, but being illegally recorded by your chosen other is quite fitting with the rest of the photographs and tape recordings.

“She tried to hide it from me and laughed and smiled at the end. That was the most interesting part.”

He confessed: “I did assault a couple of cabinets but I did not touch Ms Heard.”

It was then asked if the Willy Wonka star was drunk at the time as Rattenbourn asked: “You poured yourself a mega pint of red wine?”

Depp hit back with: “A mega pint? I poured myself a large glass of wine. I thought it necessary.”

Later on in the trial, Depp argued: “I don’t know about anyone else but I've had experiences where one does stray from complete control over their emotions at times.

“I did not try to intimidate Ms Heard. Why was she filming? If she was scared to death, why didn’t she leave?”

This is the latest episode in the lengthy trial between the pair who were married for 23 months between 2015 and 2017.

After the couple cut ties, Heard wrote an opinion piece which has become the centre of the case, in which she claimed to be the victim of abuse without naming the actor in the article.

The trial continues.
