During the latest episode of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 host Laura Hamilton was on a mission to find Sue the perfect holiday home in Abruzzo on the east coast of Italy. Along with her friend Jane, Sue hoped to find a three-bedroom detached house with a garden with a budget of £120,000. The former nurse explained to the property expert she had an extra £30,000 to spend on the perfect holiday home. However, fans were left fuming after Sue offered £20,000 less than the asking price for one property, before deciding not to go ahead with the purchase.
The first property Laura took the duo to was a spacious villa with mountain views.
Priced at £99,000, the house came with a vegetable garden and a small olive grove.
Despite loving some aspects of the villa, Sue was quick to rule it out as she felt the property wasn’t isolated away from neighbours enough.
The second holiday home was priced slightly above Sue’s budget at £126,000.
Sue seemed to be impressed as they stood outside as she pointed out: “I bet the views are going to be fantastic.”
The four-bedroom home came with a garden, a garage and a small plot of land surrounding the villa.
“That is fantastic,” Sue said as they looked out at the views. “This is what we came for.”
Laura went on to ask the house hunter what she could improve on with the next property.
Sue simply replied: “Better views.”
The third property they visited was a stone house set in the peaceful countryside with stunning views.
Priced at £135,000, the two-bedroom home came with a modern fitted kitchen, cosy living room and had access to a terrace with a pergola.
“I am speechless,” Sue commented as they stood outside of the property. “I love the stonework.”
The house hunter went on to tell Laura that the third property had knocked the previous one out of the running.
The fourth holiday home was priced way below Sue’s budget at £76,000, although Laura explained it was “a bit of a project”.
It was a detached house located in a peaceful area surrounded by 4,000 square metres of land.
After viewing the rest of the property, Sue left Laura taken aback when she decided to rule out property number three.
When she asked whether the fourth property was a contender, the nurse replied: “Possibly.”
The fifth and final property was a four-bed house priced at £142,000.
Luckily for Laura, Sue and her pal fell in love with the villa and explained it was the only property in the running.
When it came to putting an offer in, Sue offered £120,000 as she pointed out there were “structural issues” with the property.
The current owner came back with a counteroffer of £132,000, although, Sue decided to decline.
Viewers were left outraged by the outcome, and many took to social media to share their thoughts.
Stephanie penned: “Of course £120K wasn’t accepted.”
“Cheeky offer,” Tubbs penned as JB added: “Messer.”
Edward said: “It’s MASSIVE amounts of money #aplaceinthesun. But just sounds cheap I wouldn’t accept that.”
Joanne pointed out: “Oh well that’s another hour of nonsense.”
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
