Amanda Holden starred in the first episode of her new mockumentary show The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle on Tuesday night.

The E4 spoof series stars Amanda, 50, aka Mandy, and her beloved but often outspoken northern "Nan" Myrtle — who is played by a yet to be confirmed famous face — as they move in together for the first time.

Amanda is thrilled to be on our screens in the eight-part series, which has already been a hot topic with TV viewers as they attempt to work out the top-secret identity of Myrtle.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday night, viewers were quick to speculate who could be Amanda's "nan" as they predicted that it is Keith Lemon star Leigh Francis in disguise.

Leigh also sent tongues wagging further as he promoted the show on Keith Lemon's official Twitter account, although he still didn't confirm who was Myrtle, writing: "Dance for joy! The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle starts tonight (Tuesday) E4 10pm."

However, other show watchers questioned whether Rob Beckett or Eddie Izzard were the mystery celebrity behind the face of Myrtle, who even has their own Instagram account called "Myrtle Holden", which has almost 5K followers already.

One person tweeted: "There is no way that's Amanda Holden's nan! That's Keith Lemon!"

A different account put: "No way is that @AmandaHolden Nan!!! It’s got to be Keith Lemon hasn’t it?? #holdengirl" followed by laughing emojis.

Another viewer commented: "So I was convinced that @AmandaHolden nan on the new tv show was @eddieizzard but after seeing other people's comments I've changed my mind. It's definitely Keith Lemon."

While a different show watcher added: "Can anyone confirm whether or not Amanda Holden’s Nan is Keith Lemon?" with another account replying: "I've been trying to figure it out since the clips! I'm thinking could be Rob Beckett?"

Prior to the show's debut, Amanda told The Sun: “I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan, the apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes.”

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has teased what’s to come in future episodes of the spoof, as tensions further rise between the duo, leaving Amanda with a big decision.

“A concerned Amanda persuades her lonely nan to relocate from Doncaster to live with her in her swanky London house.

“Following a chaotic settling-in period, it isn’t long before tempers fray and Amanda is forced to choose between her husband and her awkward elder relative…”
