The Scareground challenge sees Owen and Jill attached to rotating boards and dunked into water as Mike throws balls at them to be caught. The rest of the contestants watch from the sides and, as always, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly oversee the gruelling task. At one point, Ant snaps at Hollyoaks star Owen as he struggles with the challenge.

While Owen spins around, he seems distracted from the task at hand as he mutters: “Oh, come on.”

Before he is plunged into the water again, he adds: “There’s no need for this.”

He seems to be forgetting the point of the trial though as balls are flung at him and he makes no effort to catch them.

“Owen! Get looking for balls!” Ant reminds him as Mike hurls balls into the water.

While all the celebrities have struggled with hunger, Owen in particular has been finding the lack of food difficult.

He has been keen to take part in a Bushtucker Trial himself, especially the eating trials.

Last night, Ant and Dec announced to the famous faces that the public had no say in tonight’s trial and that they would be deciding amongst themselves.

Initially, it was Matt Hancock, Mike and Owen who had been selected, so it seems the campmates had a change of heart and Jill replaced Matt.

It followed yesterday’s trial, which saw Chris Moyles struggling with Boiling Point.

He ended up taking only one star back to camp and was mortified.

The challenge saw him trapped in confined spaces and moving into water-filled rooms to win the stars.

Sadly, the trial was a bit of a disaster, with Chris terrified before he had even seen what he was doing.

At one point, he dropped his bag containing the stars and lost one.

Dec advised him to head back and track the kist star down, but he could not retrieve them all.

Heading back into camp, a dejected Chris announced he had only one star and had to assure his fellow contestants he wasn’t joking.

This meant there was a scant amount of food to go around during dinner time. The celebs received one “bony fish” for their meal.

Owen is currently one of the favourites to win the I’m A Celebrity crown when the series ends in just over a week.

The bookies have Jill Scott priced at even money to go all the way, with Mike Tindall second in the betting at 7/2.

Elsewhere, as things stand, Owen Warner (6/1) and Matt Hancock (8/1) are the only names priced shorter than 14/1 to be crowned winner of this series.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Jill Scott continues to lead the way in this year’s I’m A Celebrity betting, and as things stand there are no more than three names likely to challenge her for the crown.”

I’m A Celebrity continues 9pm on ITV.
