Season six of Below Deck was the last fans saw of Chief Stew Kate Chastain after six years on the show, due to a series of tumultuous arguments with other crew members. In a recent interview, the former Yacht boss revealed what it would take for her to return to the Bravo show.

Below Deck first aired on Bravo in 2013 and Kate Chastain quickly became one of the most recognised faces from the show.

The reality series gained popularity and heaps of fans across the world for its never-ending drama, non-stop parties and fiery disagreements.

Onboard the yacht were crew members who worked to serve its affluent guests.

The team were lead by Kate until 2020 when she took to Instagram to announce her departure from the show.

In an interview with US Weekly, Kate revealed she was going to be moving forward and had no plans on returning to Below Deck.

However, she did share the only reason she would make a comeback and, unsurprisingly, she said: “It would take a lot of money.

“I would take a page out of Ben [Robinson]‘s book, there were a couple of seasons where he would come in as the save the day guy for, like, one, maybe two episodes. That’s the only way I would ever consider it.”

Ben Robinson was onboard chef in the original series of Below Deck – and after leaving he made an appearance to help out in the kitchen.

In the Instagram post, Kate shared she would be retiring from the yachting business for a new career onshore.

During an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, she joked the real reason for her departure was her age: “I just feel like I’m 37 and a half, I don’t think a girl should be wearing a skirt at 38.”

The former Chief Stew was a fan favourite and admired for fierce dedication to her role. She also had a serious glare guests would comment on.

Although she had viewers who would tune in to watch her, it was an intense argument which seemingly led her to leave the show.

Following a crew night out in Thailand, Kate got into a huge disagreement with Bosun Ashton Pienaar and things took a scary turn for the worse.

After a night of drinking and dancing, Ashley took his frustration out on Kate and smashed the crew’s van window with a punch.

The van was going to transport the crew back to the yacht after their night on the town.

This episode led to a huge uproar online and Ashley was apologised for his actions at the reunion.

Although she had no plans to return to Below Deck, Kate admitted she does tune in and watch the franchise.

Bravo has remained tight-lipped about a potential season nine and who would be cast but Captain Lee Rosbach revealed filming wrapped up in February.

Its spin-off, Below Deck Mediterranean, is currently on air every Monday on Bravo, so fans could see the original series hit the screens after it ends.

Below Deck seasons 1-8 are available to stream on Bravo.
