The Bailey family first arrived on Coronation Street in 2019 and each member of the clan has made quite the impression ever since. With extended family members being brought in and children being born, the household has grown extensively but it seems they could be saying goodbye to a couple of characters associated with the clan. With the prodigal son James Bailey (played by Nathan Graham) and his boyfriend Danny Tomlinson (Dylan Brady) making plans for their future, it seems they could move away from the base of the ITV soap and expand their horizons.

The drama kicks off next week when in the bistro, chef Danny tries out some new menu ideas having been at the establishment for a couple of months.

Knowing Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) is in a romance with his boss Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), he thinks his boyfriend’s uncle could speak kindly of the young chef to his partner.

However, the situation takes a turn when Danny offers to help James with some of his rehab exercises as he is still sporting an injury.

Unfortunately, this makes him late for work at the bistro and the owner of the restaurant is less than impressed.

She tells him she will start to dock his wages if he makes a habit of turning up late when she is relying on him.

Just when he thinks he is down on his luck, Danny is propositioned by someone who offers him a job in London.

The businessman tells the young chef he has some time to think about his decision as it would mean moving away from the place he has called home for the last few months.

Moving to the capital would also mean breaking up with his boyfriend as the distance would make it impossible to see each other.

Instead of talking to James about it, however, he seeks advice from Robbie who has some stern words for the youngster.

He tells Danny whatever decision he makes, he must not hurt his nephew in the process to there will be hell to pay.

James wanted to be with Danny

Alternatively, Danny could ask James to leave with him so they could start a life together away from the cobbles.

Although the prodigal son on the Bailey family is a member of the Weatherfield County football team, he could decide he wants to join the big leagues down in London.

With the youngster also wanting to train up more Black managers in football, the capital could be the perfect place to set his plans in motion.

This would leave his mother Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw) heartbroken as she doesn’t like to see any of her children leave the nest.

Just like her daughter Dee Dee, James could be spreading his wings and allowing the Bailey name to grow across the world.

The clan would know the move for James would be the best thing for him but having developed a bond with Danny, they would also be sad to see him go.

Although they might not know it, the pair have broken ground as a couple on the cobbles as James has become the first character who is a gay football player.

Despite hiding his sexuality when he first arrived two years ago, the youngster has fully embraced being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Not wanting to hide away anymore, the sportsman kissed his boyfriend in front of the press earlier this year to show the world he was not afraid.

Ever since the character has gained much support, both on and off-screen for the story he has been at the centre of.

Before getting into a relationship with Danny, James was never fully excepting of his sexuality and therefore failed to commit to a proper romance.

Speaking of his character’s relationship with his boyfriend, actor Nathan said: “I think from the first time, he had strong feelings because he wanted to be with Danny.

“But Danny gave him a dilemma, a deal-breaker type situation and he wasn’t ready for that so he had to hide away and keep those feelings tucked away, put them in a drawer and slam it shut.

“I think it’s just the fear of the backlash and how people might respond,” he discussed of why it was so hard for his alter ego to get into a relationship.

“He didn’t want that from the fans and the general public – the weight of what they might say and do. I think that weighed very heavily on him.”

“I think it’s a fear within himself. He automatically fears the worst situation,” soap star Nathan continued.

“I guess he does have the support of his friends and family, but it’s the fear of what will happen? “Obviously he knows that the club are not going to get rid of him, but with the fans and stuff, there was too much pressure there.”

Danny has been on hand to support James through all of this and his fear over the backlash but will James be there for his boyfriend when he needs him?

Will he move to London and make the sacrifice?
