Coronation Street legend 'told to up security after car theft'

Coronation Street star William Roache has been told to up security in the wake of a neighbour having a car stolen, it has been reported.

The culprits stole a grey Range Rover, which was parked in a driveway on the street.

Police subsequently went door-to-door to chat to residents in the area, with Ken Barlow star Bill allegedly being told to up security following the crime.

‘The crime has shocked the street because it was so brazen and at 8pm on a Saturday night,’ a source told The Sun.

‘Police have gone door-to-door speaking to residents to tell them to look at their security and also if they have any clues about the crime.’

Cheshire police told the publication: ‘We’re appealing for witnesses & video footage after a burglary at an address, where a dark grey Range Rover was stolen.

‘The incident occurred sometime between 8pm and 8.30pm on Saturday 16 October.’

Bill plays Ken Barlow in Corrie, and has featured in the serial drama since the very first episode, which was broadcast almost 61 years ago.

It was reported last month that soap bosses have offered the 89-year-old a new deal to stay on Corrie.

According to The Daily Star, execs are looking to sign him up for another year in a bumper deal worth six figures.
