CORONATION Street star Mollie Gallagher has shed some light on the new lesbian angle between her character Nina Lucas and Asha Alahan.
Britain's longest running soap has recently confirmed the two teenagers will engage in a romantic storyline, as they are set to go on a date this week.

While the pair come from two very different backgrounds, Mollie, 23, believes they match up well and can learn from each other.
She shared: "Nina is so free and I don't think Asha has ever known anyone like that.
"When Asha met Nina I think she was wowed because Nina is so different and maybe someone that Asha wishes she was a bit more like in terms of Nina's 'don't care' attitude."
Asha (Tanisha Gorey) had a rough 2020 due to the strained relationship with father Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and suffered humiliation when her ex Corey recorded her topless and the video was sent around by a vengeful Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson).
Nina, niece of Roy Cropper, has been very supportive of Asha throughout these difficult times and has been one of the few people the student has actually listened to.
Asha's relationship with Corey hit a rocky patch when he began to control her and even threw food at her.
But after a chat with Nina and Yasmeen in Roy's rolls, Asha did stood her ground and dumped the cocky Corey.
This pleased Nina as Mollie revealed: "(Nina) is impressed that Asha has done what she should have done and that she is starting to realise her own worth. Asha does it in such a strong way and tends to not always believe in herself so this surprises Nina and makes her see Asha in a different way.
"From Nina's point of view, that moment came out of the blue. Nina's feelings for Asha have been a slow development and at first she was just always being a good friend."
She added: "Nina is a passionate person and does things with a lot of detail… they are two really good characters that can learn from each other. It is a really nice match."
Spoilers reveal Dev is surprised when Asha announces she’s going on a date with Nina Lucas this week – but soon welcomes her into their home.
Corrie boss Ian MacLeod recently revealed there was a “heartbreaking” love story on the horizon for Nina.
He explained: "There'll be a fantastic and unique love story for Nina, which might not entirely end up where you expect now. The love story will turn into a massive social issue story that deals with tolerance of people who are part of minority communities and don't look like everybody else.
"In the real world, if you don't look like everybody else, sometimes that can be incredibly challenging. We're going to explore that a little bit in the show – to heartbreaking effect, I hope."
