Denise Welch has teased her upcoming role on Hollyoaks, describing her new ‘hunky lover’ on the show.
The actress is returning to soaps in January in the role of Trish, the mother of Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) and a dance teacher ‘with a dark side’.
She’s also set to find romance on the show, with a love interest who is ‘very easy on the eye’.
Denise spoke about her role on Loose Women today, talking to Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter, Jane Moore and Denise Welch about her upcoming storyline.
‘My character is meant to be a bit of a goer,’ she said. ‘I like that they’re writing for a woman of my age who is still quite active in that department.’
‘He’s a bit of a bad boy,’ she said about her mystery love interest. Denise added: ‘He’s not a husband yet, he’s a boyfriend.’
While Denise is set to get close to the character on Hollyoaks next year, Covid-19 restrictions mean that the actors cannot film within two metres on the show.
Denise called the restrictions ‘really frustrating’, saying that her husband Lincoln Townley might have to appear on the show wearing a ‘wig’ to film romantic scenes.
It’s by no means the first time Denise has starred in soaps, having previously appeared on Coronation Street as Natalie Barnes.
She previously spoke about joining Hollyoaks, saying: ‘Chelsee Healy, Joe McGann, all these people I’ve worked with before – Kelle knows about it. I’ve known for about six weeks. I start beginning of November but I can still do Loose Women.
‘I miss my acting, I love the show and I feel very honoured.’
Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4. Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
