In Thursday’s double bill of Emmerdale, Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) finally met his comeuppance when he was arrested.
In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) had double-crossed Jamie and informed the police of his involvement in Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) hit and run incident.
He left Moira for dead after he ran over her. Luckily, she survived the incident but spent time in hospital.
Will justice be served?
How was Jamie Tate arrested?
It was revealed in last night’s double episodes (September 24) that Belle had secretly teamed up with nephew Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) a short while ago, and the pair have been plotting against Jamie.
Jamie was arrested in yesterday’s episode after Belle tricked him into telling her where the car parts from the vehicle used in Moira’s hit-and-run were being stored, by pretending to be on his side.
Belle told Jamie: ‘When Cain finds out – he’ll be here. Andrea’s told Moira and she knows what you’ve done.
‘You don’t understand what Cain will do to you – you’ve just got to pray they’ve gone to the police first.’
He panicked and told Belle where he had stored the incriminating evidence. She then secretly went to the police.
Speaking about the big twist, actress Eden Taylor-Draper — who plays Belle — said: ‘Over time Belle obviously realised how awful Jamie can be, he did some awful things like not confessing about knocking down Moria, sacking Sam, paying Nate off – just for starters!
‘So, with Nate’s help Belle hatched a plan to get more information so she could ultimately go to the police and get him sent down for everything he’s done.’
Will Jamie Tate go to prison?
Jamie was released after being questioned by the police, and it is currently unclear whether or not he will be charged with the hit-and-run.
However, Eden Taylor-Draper has revealed there is ‘more to come’ in this plotline.
She said: ‘I think Belle would be stupid to think he’d go down easily.
‘He will have something up his sleeve but maybe something she doesn’t expect.’
Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV at 7pm.
