The UK has made a huge breakthrough as the Pfizer-BioNtech coronavirus vaccine has officially been approved by regulators. Around 40 million doses of the vaccine will be transported around the country within the day with NHS staff to be vaccinated from next week. However, the quick turnaround has raised some concerns, which ITV Good Morning Britain expert, Dr Hilary Jones, worked to alleviate.
He told viewers: “It’s swift because they have done things at the same time.
“Usually what they do is Phase 1, 2, 3 trials, and then they look at the data and the approval takes a while, but they’ve done it all at the same time, which is good.
“They haven’t cut corners in doing this, they’ve just moved swiftly.
“When you think of some of the incompetence this year, it is really good to see that some things can be done.”
