EastEnders' Nancy Carter is about to make an epic comeback as the character is returning to Albert Square after nearly five years away.
Actress Maddy Hill, who is also known for playing paramedic Ruby Spark on Casualty, will make her return to the BBC soap later this year.
Nancy will come back, much to the Carter family's surprise, as she left Walford years ago to go travelling with husband Tamwar (Himesh Patel).
She had settled down to enjoy married life in New Zealand with her hubby, but why is she now back in Walford?
Her arrival is sure to delight Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda (Kellie Bright), but viewers will have to wait and see what's in store for Nancy as she makes her return.
Maddy's character first arrived in Walford with the Carter's in 2014.
Nancy soon became embroiled with fiery dramas across the Square as her family took over The Queen Vic.
Eventually, she left the square as she headed off with beau Tamwar to travel around the world.
Speaking about her return to EastEnders, Maddy Hill said: "I'm so excited to be coming back and reconnecting with all the hilarious, warm, talented cast and crew and meeting some lovely new faces.
"I absolutely loved playing Nancy and have often wondered what she's up to, so feel very grateful to be able to rediscover her 5 years on!"
Jon Sen, Executive Producer, EastEnders said: "We're delighted to have Maddy back and I can't wait for audiences to see what’s in store for Nancy.
"There's a lot of mystery surrounding her return and she's coming back to a family that have been through a very difficult year – things are definitely not as Nancy left them.
"Maddy is a fantastic actor and we feel very lucky to have her back in Walford."
After her exit from EastEnders in 2016, Maddy joined Casualty as Ruby.
She left the show after two years in April 2020 when her character decided to look after her baby niece after her sister's tragic death.
Nancy will return to her family to discover they've had an extremely difficult year.
Last year, Mick found out he had a 30-year-old daughter, Frankie.
Frankie learned that Mick had been abused by her mum Katy, as she was born when he was 12.
Mick was struggling to come to terms with his abuse and he couldn't bring himself to tell Linda, and they began having issues.
He then finally told Linda during New Year's Day's emotional episode, and the couple were left crying in each other's arms.
EastEnders continues on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
