As if things weren’t complicated and frightening enough for Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) in the wake of her discovery that husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) killed Chantelle – she has gone into premature labour which leaves their baby in serious danger.
Viewers saw the middle of Chelsea and Gray’s heated discussion interrupted when Chelsea doubled over in agony.
Their argument temporarily forgotten and Chelsea’s plan to escape thwarted, she is rushed to hospital and the baby is left fighting for survival in an incubator.
Chelsea had planned to get Gray out of her life but this has thrown everything up in the air as the safety and wellbeing of her son is the top priority.
As she and Gray look helplessly down at the tot, Chelsea pushes aside her other focus and allows Gray to put his arm around her.
He tells her that things will be okay and appears to sweep previous events under the rug.
Discussing the thrill at being the centre of these rollercoaster scenes, Zaraah previously told Metro.co.uk: ‘I was excited, I just want to do the fans justice, Christmas is such a big deal and I wanted to do a good job.
‘I was honestly so excited but nervous at the same time, those scripts kept coming through!’
But as Chelsea hopes for the best for her son, that doesn’t mean that she has forgotten the truth about sinister Gray.
It’s now a case of biding her time; ensuring that the baby recovers and is safe and then finding a way to get away from Gray without fuelling his suspicions.
After all, the last thing the new mum would want is for her child to be trapped with an unpredictable killer.
