EastEnders star Jake Wood has teased a huge Christmas for the BBC soap ahead of his character Max Branning’s exit.
The actor, who appeared on Wednesday’s The One Show, revealed that the storyline for December 25 is a ‘cracker’.
Speaking to Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, Jake began: ‘Eastenders is always part of Christmas, I don’t think it’s a Christmas without it is it?
‘When I was growing up I always used to watch EastEnders at Christmas, for me it feels like Christmas Day is that show.
‘It’s an honour to be a part of it and we have a cracker lined up for this year.’
Another big storyline taking place in Albert Square is surrounding the attack of Ian Beale (Adam Wyatt).
There are a lot of suspects in the mix, including Max himself.
‘Why would Max want Ian gone?’ Jermaine quizzed.
‘There’s a lot of history between them anyway, didn’t Max try to kill Ian three years ago? He tried to strangle him with fairy lights one Christmas,’ Jake continued.
‘He didn’t quite finish him off then.
‘Ian owes Max a lot of money, he swindled him out of his half of the restaurant and bought the Vic for Sharon and also Ian has just seen Max and Linda (Kellie Bright) kissing, they’re having a bit of an affair at the moment.’
‘He has threatened to blackmail him and tell Mick (Danny Dyer), so he’s got fair motive,’ he added.
Jake, whose character will be leaving the soap after 15 years, went on to add: ‘It will be emotional leaving after 15 years, I have made amazing friends there.
‘I am excited but I am sad to leave – I am there for a little while yet.’
The One Show airs daily at 7pm on BBC One.
