Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) has had his fair share of traumas in Emmerdale village so it may not come as a surprise that he decides to leave for good to start a new life with boyfriend Ben (Simon Lennon).
With his relationship with broken sister Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) in tatters, Aaron reaches the end of his tether and agrees to move away with Simon, who has landed himself a new job.
But will he be able to leave behind Liv when she is in such a state, despite their relationship being seemingly unfixable?
Ben is furious when Liv admits she tried to sabotage his job chances in Cornwall by giving him a bad reference. Shocked at her behaviour, Aaron leaves Liv feeling awful.
Feeling lonely, Liv can’t help eyeing the bottles of alcohol, tempted by the promise of numbing the pain. Liv finally gives-in and takes a drink from a bottle of vodka; she’s off the wagon.
After Aaron assures Ben he’s ready to move away from Emmerdale with him if need be, they share a kiss.
When they return to Mill Cottage, and discover that Liv has relapsed, Aaron declares he’s done with picking up the pieces for her. Liv’s in despair, fearing she’s driven her brother away for good this time.
Can Aaron and Liv make amends before he moves away with Ben?
Or might Liv’s troubles force Aaron to choose between his family and his new life?
With Ben set to cross paths with Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) as he discovers the truth about what she tried to do to Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins), it seems like there’s more than one reason to make a break from Emmerdale. But whether they get their happy ending remains to be seen.
Danny recently confirmed that he is leaving the show, telling us: ‘I unfortunately decided to start a new path in life. I’ve got my baby now and I’m [getting] married next year, it felt like the right time to open a new chapter in my life. I’m very, very emotional about it actually, it’s been a massive part of my life…
‘I’ve wanted to spread my wings for a while and a show like this can give me the opportunity to see what else happens after it. [I can] start a new life with my family and see what happens.’
A spokesperson from the soap said: ‘Danny has achieved so much during his time at Emmerdale playing the role of Aaron. He has had to tackle some of the hardest hitting storylines and has made a lasting impact on the show.
‘Aaron is a character our viewers took into their hearts and have followed his rollercoaster journey for years. Danny will be hugely missed and we wish him all the best going forwards.’
