Where is Brian Conley from?

The 59 year old actor hails from Paddington and was brought up in West London where he studied performing arts at the Barbara Speake Stage School.

Brian’s father was a taxi driver, but also used to work as a rigger supervisor for the BBC. Unfortunately, he passed away after suffering with bowel cancer.

However, Brian believes his late dad – a big EastEnders fan – sent him a sign from beyond the grave during his first day filming on EastEnders.

Why is Brian Conley famous?

Brian Conley is most famous for his eponymous comedy variety show. He’s also appeared on the Royal Variety Performance several times, both as an act and a host.

The actor has also starred in many award-winning television shows such as Time After Time (where he played Keny Conway) and The Grimleys (where he played Doug ‘Dynamo’ Digby).

He’s won multiple awards himself including the NTA in 1995 for Most Popular Comedy Performer and has also starred in many West End theatre productions.

Some of his biggest roles include A Christmas Carol’s Ebenezer Scrooge, Hairspray’s Edna Turnblad and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s Caractacus Potts.

With all that success, it might be hard to believe that Brian got his start in the entertainment industry as a Pontins Bluecoat. At just 16, he lied about his age in order to get the job.

Does Brian Conley have a family?

Yes. Brian has been married to his wife Anne-Marie since 1996 and the pair have two daughters, Amy and Lucy.

A true family man, when asked if he’d be watching his EastEnders debut live with his loved ones, Brian responded: “Of course! We’re all gonna be there. We’ve got some lovely neighbours up the road as well so we might invite everyone over.”

He continued: “Yes I will be nervous, but what an honour. I know how lucky I am. The first time I was on Albert Square I cried because I appreciated how many other people would die to be there.”

Keep your eyes peeled for Brian Conley in upcoming episodes of EastEnders which airs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings on BBC One.
