Hitmen Reloaded is actually season two of 2020’s Hitmen, the hit Sky Comedy series about two offbeat contract killers. The second season sees Jamie (played by Mel Giedroyc) and Fran (Sue Perkins) pick up where they left off, taking on new contracts and dealing with their messy personal lives. After a nearly two-year wait for the sequel, fans are curious if this is the last time they will see the characters.
Will there be another series of Hitmen Reloaded?
Hitmen first made its debut in March of 2020, with the six-part comedy proving to be a hit for Sky.
Plans were put in place for another series shortly after but were held back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Yet, the sequel, Hitmen Reloaded, has finally made its debut on Sky and NOW, bringing fans another six episodes.
The new season is business as usual for the duo, as they are once again taking new contracts that never go quite to plan.
The format of the show invited the possibility of a third season, as Jamie and Fran pick up different contracts each week.
When will Hitmen season 3 be released?
Sky has not announced a third season of the show, with neither Giedroyc nor Perkins commenting on it either.
Sky will likely wait to see the reaction to the new series before confirming the future of the show.
The last episode of the sequel will air on November 2, with confirmation on season three unlikely before then.
Each episode is airing Tuesday nights at 8.30pm on Sky Comedy, with each episode also available to watch on NOW.
This means season three will most likely air towards the end of 2022.
Who will be in the cast of Hitmen season 3?
The series is clearly open to change, as they have introduced Kat Gaitskill (Katherine Parkinson) into the mix.
She is a new contract killer that operates outside of Jamie and Fran, but clashes with the pair throughout.
It has given the sequel a new dynamic, turning the previous two leads into three.
Giedroyc and Perkins recently talked about how Parkinson’s inclusion changes the show and why the addition is so exciting for fans.
“She’s phenomenal,” Giedroyc, “the triangular dynamic is so fun to play.
“It felt like we were still at school with those silly tensions that you have, particularly amongst girls.
“She’s so brilliant and the character is so repulsive. I think people are going to really love her.”
Perkins added: “She does some very, very dastardly things. We’ve finished our scenes with her now and I think we’ll miss her.
“But we have some amazing new guest stars lined up for the rest of the filming.”
Some of the guest stars this season include Sanjeev Bhaskar, Alan Asaad, and Nina Wadia.
Parkinson also shared some details about her character and what inspired her to take on the role of Kat.
“She’s someone who has built an empire, Parkinson explained. “She lives in a huge house with a maze and horses.
“Very similar to me in many ways. And she’s built it all off the back of this very nebulous self-help, motivational guru business – it’s called something like ‘Self-Thought’.
“It’s a bit like Gwyneth’s Goop, but less gross.”
Hitmen Reloaded is available to watch on Sky Comedy and NOW.
