Dom Copeland (played by David Ames) was left with life-changing injuries after being involved in a horrific car accident in Holby City. Against the advice of Henrick Hanssen (Guy Henry), the registrar was pulled from the wreckage by Sasha Levy (Bob Barrett) and although Dom’s life was saved, he was left with a stoma bag. The actor teased Dom will embark on a huge journey in the coming weeks but could surgery complications cost the registrar his life?
Last week in the BBC medical drama, a pole impaled Dom’s abdomen while he lay unconscious in the car wreckage.
Sasha pulled him free but when the registrar woke up he was told he would need to use a stoma bag for the rest of his life.
In a recent interview, actor David revealed how Dom will cope with the tragic news.
“It’s a really fascinating journey that he goes on in the coming few months, and Dom has a lot to get to grips with,” he explained.

Despite some of his co-stars exiting in recent weeks, David added: “He’s not going anywhere for a little while!”
The registrar will struggle with coming to terms with the life-long affliction and will hit out at his colleagues.
“As much as he understands his colleagues made a medical decision that saved his life, Dom feels as if his pride, his appearance, and his independence have been whipped away,” David continued.
“And he’s now reliant on a lifetime of taking antibiotics and not being able to do certain things.”
“It’s shaken up who he considers himself to be – and he’s seeking someone to blame,” he told Inside Soap.
