Hollyoaks viewers rejoiced on Wednesday night as Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) appeared to kill villain Silas Blissett (Jeff Rowle) and save Mercedes McQueen's (Jorgie Porter) life.
Mercedes has been desperately searching for Silas ever since their previous confrontation resulted in a tragic accident.
She lost her and husband Sylver's (David Tag) unborn baby after suffering a horror fall last month.
Meanwhile, Silas has been plotting to kidnap Mercedes son Bobby in an effort to get the ultimate revenge.
The evil character had one more game left to play with the McQueens, and instructed Mercedes to meet him at the Folly.
During their showdown, Silas told Mercedes that she had two choices: keep her own life but Bobby leaves with hi, or Bobby can stay in Hollyoaks, but she must die.
Mercedes puts her life on the line to protect her son but just as Silas was about the kill her, Theresa came to the rescue.
Has she finally got rid of the serial killer?
Viewers at home rejoiced as they predicted that Silas' reign of terror had finally came to an end.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Yes Theresa."
Another added: "OMG Theresa."
A third person posted: "Theresa knocking Silas out then saying “oops” as if she’s spilt a cup of tea is the most Theresa thing ever."
While a fourth wrote: "Silas is dead yes!"
However, in a shock Hollyoaks twist, Silas was later revealed to be alive and he fled the village once more.
He left Bobby a message to give to Mercedes, saying that "the game was finally over".
There was more heartache for the family during Wednesday's first-look episode as Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) decided to break cup with Goldie McQueen (Chelee Healey).
The village vicar confused to kissing someone else, leaving Goldie heartbroken.
