Hostage siege ends in terrifying gun drama in Emmerdale

Leyla Harding’s (Roxy Shahidi) terrifying hostage ordeal at the hands of drug dealer Callum (Tom Ashley) came to a nail-biting conclusion in Emmerdale, as Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) finally tracked her down.

Leyla was kidnapped in Tuesday (March 14) night’s episode, and it wasn’t long before her family realised she was missing.

Aware of the danger Callum posed, after attacking Suzy with a brick, they were sure that he was responsible for her disappearance.

They contacted the police, who promised to look into it, but decided that they couldn’t just sit around waiting.

Instead, Suzy got hold of a lead from a friend, who informed her that he used to meet Callum in a shed in the woods, and she headed out with Jacob to hunt them down.

Meanwhile, Leyla had a plan of her own.

Having been hit over the head by Callum in a row the night before, she pretended to be unconscious and in need of medical attention.

Callum fell for it, and took her out to his car, where she made a run for it.

Things got tense as Suzy and Jacob drove past, just missing her as she screamed for help.

In the frenzy, Callum caught up with her, tackling her to the ground before dragging her back to his car, where he pulled out a loaded gun.

Back in the shed, they got a shock when Callum turned on the light and revealed that Jacob and Suzy were inside, having finally tracked them down.

A standoff ensued, as armed police swarmed the area, announcing that they had the shed surrounded.

The terrified hostages did all they could to persuade Callum to let them go, promising that they would lie about what had happened to keep him out of prison.

Ultimately, it was the police revealing that his mum wanted to talk to him that lured him outside, where he was promptly arrested and Leyla was finally set free.

With Callum in police custody, is the hell he has put Leyla and her family through finally over?
