Janette Manara joined the professional cast of Strictly Come Dancing alongside her partner, Aljaz Skorjanec, in 2013. However, this year she’s not taking to the iconic dance floor, but is instead presenting the spin-off show It Takes Two. Appearing briefly on BBC’s Strictly this weekend, Janette confessed to feeling “emotional” watching her former co-stars perform.
Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman welcomed Janette onto the programme on Saturday night, after each couple had performed.
She quizzed the dance star on how it felt to be a viewer this year and not be performing on the show.
“How does it feel being here and not dancing?” Claudia asked.
Janette revealed: “It’s been quite emotional actually. I watched the launch show and I cried the whole way through it.”
“I have no voice again because I have been screaming for every single couple,” she remarked.
The former Strictly pro added: “I just have to say yet again, Strictly Come Dancing opening show tonight, every single couple was absolutely amazing.
“So, well done to all the pros, all the celebs, the whole team. It’s just the best show on telly,” Janette said.
Claudia went on to ask Janette about her new role on Strictly’s It Takes Two which she is presenting alongside Rylan Clark-Neal.
She asked Janette how she was feeling ahead of her first show in the new job: “Are you nervous or excited?”
The dance star replied: “Excited! Yes, because Strictly Come Dancing is all about dancing and celebrating that right?
“So, although I’m not going to be actually dancing on the floor I’m still going to be celebrating it.
“I’m going to be laughing and crying and being a part of their journey, so I can’t wait.”
“I’m still in the family,” she added, with Claudia replying: “Of course you’re in the family!”
“We are going to be absolutely glued to you,” Claudia remarked.
Regular viewers will remember Janette made it to the Strictly final with singer HRVY last year, but has since decided to take on her new role on It Takes Two.
The Strictly spin-off had been hosted by Zoe Ball for the past 10 years, but earlier this year she announced she was leaving the show.
The BBC later announced Janette would be filling the shoes of long time presenter Zoe.
In a statement released by the BBC at the time, Janette said: “It’s a dream come true to become part of the It Takes Two team!
“Although it’s impossible to fill in the shoes of a legend like Zoe Ball, I hope to make her and all of the Strictly fans proud.
“I will miss dancing on that iconic dance floor weekly, but forever grateful to continue being a part of the Strictly Come Dancing family!”
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays at 7pm on BBC One.
