Eagle-eyed fans of ITV drama Innocent are convinced they might have the key to solve Matty's murder.

The four-part mystery drama series is dedicated to working out the murder of schoolboy Matty Taylor, after Sally Wright was wrongly imprisoned for the crime.

And fans are convinced that Karen Moss has something to do with it.

In tense scenes aired on Wednesday night, Karen told the police about her daughter Bethany's codeine overdose, taking six of what she allegedly believed were 'herbal' stress pills.

Karen rushed Bethany to hospital after the incident, which she said was spurred on by her having "a bad day at school".

But it was later revealed that Matty was the reason for her bad day, as she was confronted by her partner Sam.

She recalled how she had confronted the boy one night, admitting: "I crossed over [the road] and shouted at him. I might have even grabbed him."

"But you didn't follow him?" Sam pressed.

"No. Absolutely not," she insisted.

And viewers are convinced it's an admission of guilt as Sam urged her to tell the police – and he later handed her over to the coppers himself, with Karen claiming she hadn't even seen the boy on the night in question – which was clearly a lie.

"This seems very rehearsed!" one viewer said.

Another added: "Pants on fire Karen!"

Another social media user simply posted a GIF of Pinocchio's nose growing as he told a lie, with the caption: "'Karen, did you see Matty that day?' 'No.'"

"Karen is a wrong'un, deffo!" someone else chimed in, as another Twitter user added: "Karen gets more and more shady by the bloody minute!"

But others thought Sam might be "throwing Karen under the bus" by handing her over to the police so easily.

"Just goes to show in some ways that Sam doesn't really love Karen. I don't think he would have betrayed her so easily," one keen viewer commented.

Someone else continued: "Sam dobbing in Karen to cover himself?"

While a third added: "To be fair hubby is a complete sh*t really as now gone to police about Karen and didn't stand by his wife either? Hmmm."

"Karen is bonkers, and I want her to be the person who killed Matty. But the fact that we are still only in episode 3 means that she can't be. There are no doubt lots of twists still to come, and Matty's killer will be somebody else. Maybe even Sam or John T," someone else predicted.
