Love Island: Islanders get a day OFF every Saturday and go to the beach – but are banned from discussing their villa antics

Kem Cetinay dropped a Love Island bombshell on This Morning, where he revealed islanders actually get a day off from the villa antics and enjoy activities such as going to the beach.

Kem, who won the show two seasons ago, spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about his time on the ITV2 match-making programme – and revealed that while the show has a day off on Saturday, so do the islanders.

“Not a lot of people know this!” Kem explained, as he confirmed the islanders leave the villa for one day each week and “chill on the beach” – leaving Holly and Phil's jaws to drop.

"You get one day off a week – it gives them a chance to clean the villa," he added. "You take your mics off, and normally you go to the beach… When you take your mic off, you’re not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show. You’re being watched. You can all sit and chat, but they are careful about what you say. It’s your time to relax."

He did say the islanders are watched “like a hawk” by producers, with the islanders banished from discussing anything in the villa but can only talk about “home life”.

Fans in their masses took to Twitter to share their shock over the bombshell, with one writing: “Wha! The Love Island lot get a day off each week! Saturdays = mics off, head out the villa and all hit the beach together!!! #LoveIsland."

A second added: “Kems on #thismorning chatting about #loveisland and they get a day off on Saturday where they can take their mics off and all go to the beach etc and chill. how did i not know this!”

Love Island is currently in full swing, and the first islander was only recently dumped from the island.

Callum McLeod was “gutted” to have been the first to leave, and spoke out after his departure.

“It was just really, really enjoyable. It’s unfortunate that I didn’t meet anyone that I connected with but I had such good fun in there,” he said.

“Even though I didn’t meet anyone that I could potentially be with on the outside, I loved it, which is a great bonus. I would have taken any opportunity like this. It was a fabulous thing to do and a really positive thing in my life.”

If he had a chance to do his time in the villa again he surprisingly said he wouldn’t do anything different and would still have picked Amber.

Callum said: “I don’t think I would do anything differently in person. I genuinely think I was true to myself. I didn’t fake anything.”
