Love Island bombshell Georgia Townend is best known for coming into the villa with her sights set on Hugo Hammond before being brutally dumped as he coupled up with Chloe Burrows.

Her journey in the villa was short yet sweet, but it had been a long time coming.

Georgia applied to go on the show in February 2020 and her application was picked up as she made it through the rounds in the lead-up to getting on the summer series.

She explained how she got through the initial casting before getting the final call to let her know the show was cancelled, but luckily for the beauty, it wasn't the end of her journey, and she came on the following year.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, Georgia said: "I applied for the 2020 series but obviously that didn't go ahead because of Covid-19.

"The producers asked to keep my details on file and said if I was single they'd get back in contact with me, and then they did!

"I got the call last May that it wasn't going to happen, but then they reached out to me again in January this year and asked if I was still single, which I was, so we restarted the process from there."

Although Georgia didn't need to apply again, she did go through some long conversations to get her in, adding: "I had to go through casting again, have meetings with the execs, have my medical and psych evaluations, fill in questionnaires about my dating history, and that took me right up to May.

"That's when I found out I was selected and then I flew out at the beginning of June."

Georgia also confessed that the time during the quarantine before she went in the villa was a challenge, as they had to send someone else out to do the islanders-to-be's shopping.

She confessed that it was hard being stripped of her independence with something as small as going shopping, particularly for a long while.

Islanders are restricted in regards to what they can do during their quarantine, with Georgia adding: "I didn't have my phone, all I could do was read and watch the show.

"It was bittersweet. You'd watch it and just think about how you want to go in there."

Eventually when Georgia did go into the villa, she was only in there for a short while as another dumping came along with the lads picking the girls they want to couple up with.

Ultimately, when Toby chose to couple up with newbie Abigail, Chloe and Georgia were left in the bottom two, and Hugo chose to couple up with Chloe, sending Georgia home.

There are no hard feelings between the pair, with Georgia confessing that they weren't right for each other, but she's still on her hunt to find love.
