Love Island’s Jay Younger exposes ITV show wages – and it’s a tiny amount

Love Island hunk Jay Younger has revealed exactly how much the ITV show paid its cast members – and it's not as lucrative as fans might think.

The 28-year-old – who entered as a bombshell in the early weeks of the 2022 series – has dashed the hopes of sexy singletons hoping to make a fortune by doing the show.

Of course, the cast members who make it to the final week often land huge deals when the show ends, but Jay has revealed most people get a tiny weekly wage.

Speaking on The Rugby Pod, Jay told host Jim Hamilton that he and his co-stars received just £375 for every week they were on the show.

That means that all if this year's finalists – Davide Sanclimenti, Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Gemma Owen, Luca Bish, Dami Hope, Indiyah Polak, Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri – would have received around £3,107.

All of them apart from Ekin-Su entered on the first day, while she walked in as a bombshell on day three and eventually won the prize money at the end.

The fee is intended to cover rent and bills and other general costs that the islanders would have back home while in the villa.

Of course, once the show ends and opportunities start rolling in, the more popular cast members can end up making mega bucks.

Ekin-Su landed a seven-figure deal with fashion retailer Oh Polly – the biggest Love Island deal ever – while Gemma and Indiyah are working with PrettyLittleThing, and Tasha with eBay.

Davide topped up his winnings from being crowned champion with a deal with BoohooMan.

The winning couple also landed their own spin-off show, which will see them travel to Ekin-Su's home country of Turkey, and Davide's of Italy.

There are also plenty of other opportunities that present themselves, as Ekin-Su was confirmed to be a part of the new Dancing On Ice cast.
