Money Heist season 5: Will Denver leave Stockholm for Manila?

Money Heist returned for the first half of season five which came out on Netflix earlier this month. There have been some controversial plot twists in part one of the Spanish drama with even more to be expected when the series makes a comeback later this year. As fans already know, there has been much strain on Denver’s (played by Jaime Lorente) relationship with Stockholm (Esther Acebo) but will it result in a permanent split?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Money Heist.

Will Denver leave Stockholm for Manila?

Denver didn’t want his girlfriend Stockholm taking part in the Bank of Spain heist as she hadn’t got any previous criminal experience.

Stockholm was a hostage during the Royal Mint of Spain robbery who fell in love with Denver during the first season.

She decided to give up her previous life to escape with Denver and the rest of the gang but cracks started to appear when she talked of getting involved with the next job.

Denver was proven right when she came face-to-face with her ex-lover and boss Arturo Roman (Enrique Arce).

Arturo, who is now a motivational speaker, was sent into the Bank of Spain to try and talk down the robbers.

He was only doing so to further his profile and didn’t care if he hurt anyone in the process.

After he got his hands on a gun, Stockholm pointed a gun at Arturo who tried to talk his way out of the situation.

Secretly, he was gearing up to shoot her himself but before he was able to do so, Stockholm shot him and now he is in critical condition in hospital.

Stockholm was shocked that she pulled the trigger and has been pretty much out of action ever since.

She even took drugs at the worst possible time as Stockholm was the only one who could help Denver, Manila (Belén Cuesta) and Tokyo (Ursula Corbero) who were surrounded in the kitchen by the army.

Stockholm knew of an exit but was too high to tell them until the last minute, by which it was too late for Tokyo.

As a result of Stockholm being slow to inform her friends of what to do next, there wasn’t any time for Tokyo to escape and was gunned down by the soldiers.

Money Heist season 5: Will Stockholm get left behind after in part 2? [EXPLAINER]

Fans are going to have to wait to watch the fall out of her actions and Tokyo’s death in season five, part two.

Someone who may look at her differently after this is Denver who didn’t want her to take part in the heist in the first place.

At a similar time, Manila confessed her love for Denver, saying she has had feelings for him since they were children.

With Stockholm proving to be a liability in the group, could Denver’s affections turn to Manila?

Denver has already stated that he loves Stockholm and wouldn’t want to be with his childhood friend.

Manila is transgender and revealed she had become a woman to former friends Denver and Moscow (Paco Tous) in season three.

But with things continuing to go wrong between himself and Stockholm, Denver may change his mind and want to pursue a possible relationship with Manila.

Money Heist season 5, part 2 drops on Netflix on December 3.
