'Selling Sunset' Star Emma Hernan's Business Ventures Outside of Real Estate

Selling Sunset is back with season 4. This time, there’s a new agent joining the cast of the Netflix series. Or should we say a business mogul? Learn more about Emma Hernan and the businesses she operates outside of being a real estate agent.

Emma Hernan is ‘Selling Sunset’s newest real estate agent

Hernan joins the cast of Selling Sunset in season 4 along with another new agent, Vanessa Villela. “Selling Sunset fans, those Oppenheim couches are getting a little more crowded in Season 4,” Netflix tweeted to introduce the new cast. “Vanessa Villela, a Mexican-American novela star turned real estate agent, and Emma Hernan, an entrepreneur who has an interesting history with the ladies, have joined the cast.”

Villela may look familiar to some from her days as a soap opera actor in series like Romántica obsesión and Un nuevo amor. Meanwhile, Hernan has her hands in several other businesses.

As Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald revealed to Showbiz Cheat Sheet in November 2021, Hernan has been with the Oppenheim Group for a few years. “[Hernan and I] have been friends for probably four or five years,” Fitzgerald shares. “She worked at the Oppenheim Group before she came on the show.”

According to Nylon, Hernan has been in real estate for three years. “I was always going around looking at real estate with Jason [Oppenheim] and Brett [Oppenheim] every weekend and they were like, ‘You have to get your license. You pick up knowledge like a sponge,’” she says of getting her start in the business. Now, she’s a cast member on Selling Sunset, too.

‘Selling Sunset’ star has experience with the stock market

As Hernan teases in Selling Sunset season 4, she has been investing in stock since she was a teenager.” [I babysat for a man who] … was into the stock market,” Hernan explained to Nylon. “When I put the kids down to nap, instead of watching TV, I would look at all these stocks he was investing in.”

Hernan took the money she earned babysitting and started investing in stock and health care. Eventually, she earned enough to start investing in other ventures, like startup companies.

Emma Leigh & Co. is Emma Hernan’s empanada business

Outside of real estate and investing, Hernan also owns Emma Leigh & Co., a food brand. “My grandfather, Gerry McAdams, founded Yankee Trader Seafood in 1994 in Massachusetts and today it is a third-generation, family-owned business,” Hernan writes on her company website. “I now have the good fortune of donning my own chef’s hat and apron to promote Emma Leigh Brands, made right here in the USA!”

Hernan partners with Beyond Meat to create empanadas of varying flavors — which pop up several times in Selling Sunset Season 4. “I have a 100% woman-owned company, so that’s been important for me to showcase as well,” Hernan tells Nylon. “I want to inspire young girls to go out there and work as hard as they can and they can go and accomplish everything I have and more.”
