Strictly Come Dancing viewers tuned in to see a stellar first live show on Saturday night as the sixteen celebrities took to the dance floor and performed their debut routines. Tonight however, will be the last time one contestant takes part in the competition as the first elimination looms. For David James, it seems he will be the first to hang up his dancing shoes.
David and professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova were tasked with dancing the Foxtrot last weekend to Three Lions as a nod to the footballer’s legendary career.
The feedback he received from the judges was overall incredibly positive bar a few criticisms from Craig Revel Horwood.
Head judge Shirley kicked off the comments with: “You’re 6’5 you’re slender, you’ve got everything it takes to be a magnificent ballroom dancer.
“You’re light on your feet and and soft knees and the potential to have a really great frame. You’re another one who shows us great promise.”

“I thought it was going to be a disaster but in fact I’m surprised!” Bruno Tonioli revealed.
“It’s true, it was full of content, most of it was quite graceful, you lost your footing at times but you caught up and you gave us a proper Foxtrot, well done, you’ll get better!”
Craig then delivered the critique and said: “It needed to be a lot smoother, you went horribly wrong in the middle of it, you knew that, I saw the look on your face and there were timing issues.
“Also, I felt you’re a dear in the headlights, you need to get out of that mode and perform, not just with a fake smile but with proper emotion.”
But Motsi Mabuse finished on a positive note: “Honestly, I think if you find the harmony between your expression and your body then everything works together.
“You need to find your Sasha Fierce, an alter-persona that helps you perform because the dancing is really not bad. You need to entertain us, but that was a really great try.”
Together, David and Nadiya scored a combined total of 17 points for their first dance.
But it seems his performance wasn’t hugely popular with the viewing public.

OddsMonkey have taken a look at the amount of Instagram followers all sixteen contestants currently have compared to when they started the competition.
For David, he joined the show with 137,000 followers and that figure has only increased by 1,900, which is the smallest rise out of all the celebrities.
With such a small rise in fans, does this mean he will fail to secure enough public votes on Saturday night and make it through to week three of the dancing competition?
Tonight he will be performing a Paso Double to Espana Cani, will be bring an alter-ego to the dance floor to help him get into character?
As for the other celebrities, it is no surprise Saffron Barker and Michelle Visage have the biggest increase in following on the social media platform.
Both ladies have gained an extra 100,000 fans and OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Walton told express.co.uk: “The social media following does make for fascinating reading in Strictly Come Dancing, obviously some of them like Saffron Barker and Michelle Visage had huge presences already and it is no surprise to see them add.”
“But the real big winners early on have been two of the outsiders in the shape of Anneka Rice and Mike Bushell – whilst not hitting huge scores, they both had the audiences on their feet and that is reflected by big jumps they saw in their Instagram followers, having starting at a very low bar.”
The Treasure Hunt star originally had a measly 1,024 followers but now has 10,400, an increase of 9,376.
As for the BBC Breakfast sports reporter, Mike started the show with 4,238 followers and has increased to 15,500, that’s 11,262 more followers.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday night at 6:40pm.
