The Last Kingdom season four is out now on Netflix and the Anglo-Saxon series introduced a whole host of new characters. Fans are keen to find out more about actress Martini, and has all you need to know.

Who is Eadith actress Stefanie Martini?

Stefanie Martini is a 30-year-old English actress who is best known for her roles in Prime Suspect 1973 and Emerald City.

The Bristol-born star, whose full name is actually Lorna Michelle Stefanie Martini, starred in a number of plays at Winscombe Youth Theatre as a child.

She went on to take an induction at the National Youth Theatre, but her real passion was in art.

Martini began an art foundation course, but she was told by a teacher to pursue her interest in acting.

She joined a programme at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and the following year she was accepted at the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Whilst at RADA, she took on a supporting role in an episode of Endeavour.

By 2017 she had landed a main role in ITV’s Prime Suspect 1973, for which she was nominated for a Best Young Actress award as part of the International Achievement Recognition Awards.

In the same year, she starred in the Agatha Christine-inspired film Crooked House.

Fans may also recognise her from the 2019 film, Make Up, and the series Doctor Thorne.

She joined The Last Kingdom for season four, which was released earlier in 2020, and she has since gained a huge following.

The star is on Instagram and she has more than 75,000 followers, whom she has been keeping up to date during lockdown.

In May 2020 she posted a photo of herself as Eadith, with the message: “I finished watching The Last Kingdom last week with my flatmate, very at home, very alert, & just wanted to say thanks for all the lovely messages.

“The people that worked on this, cast and crew, are a really special bunch and I think they made something brilliant.”

Viewers from across the globe praised her for embracing the new role, and they showed her plenty of support for the upcoming season.

One said: “Loved your character thank god they made you a good person because I hated your brother and wanted him dead. Love this series just finished last episode can’t wait for season 5. Btw I wanted you with Uhtred [sic].”

Many people have anticipated she may end up with the show’s lead character, Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon).

Another fan said: “We love you as Eadith!! I wasn’t sure at first but when you were in the woods with the boys you reminded of a princess for some reason…not sure which one but…can’t wait to see more in S5!!”

Martini described her character as being independent and tough, as she was able to make a stand against her evil brother.

The series is filmed in Budapest, Hungary, and the star said she had “such a good time” shooting season four during the summertime.

She added: “I was a little nervous about starting a job that was already well established and joined for a later series, I’d never done that before.

“Jamie [Blackley] is such a good actor, he’s really easy to work with and a great person, I really enjoyed all of my scenes with him.

“We were both new characters entering the show so I remember when we turned up to the readthrough there were 80 or so people around a massive table in this huge rehearsal room, and we were sat there terrified together having to speak out loud to people who had been friends for 4 or 5 years together, so it was nice to go into the job together in the same boat.

“But everyone was so welcoming and everyone was really kind, funny and a lot of fun! On set was awesome, and we had great weekends together.”

She is now a well-established member of the cast and has become great friends with her co-stars. She revealed she went to drama school with Aelswith actress Eliza Butterworth, and she had known Aethelflaed actress Millie Brady before joining the cast.
