Gardeners’ World has been airing on the BBC and it has provided the perfect form of escapism for viewers. To help them wind down after a stressful week, Monty Don and his fellow presenters have been providing all sorts of tips and tricks. Viewers are keen to know when the show will return and Express.co.uk has investigated.

When is Gardeners’ World coming back?

Gardeners’ World has been taking fans away from their busy lives on Friday evenings, as they immerse themselves in the great outdoors.

Horticulturalist Monty Don has presented the uplifting segments, alongside presenters Toby Buckland, Adam Frost and Sue Kent.

Last week Monty informed fans tonight’s (October 22) episode will be the last in the series as he gears up for winter.

In the final episode, Monty will be preparing for the spring and Adam will be in Oxfordshire, visiting Broughton Grange.

Toby takes a visit to Sue’s garden in Swansea to help out with some general maintenance ahead of the cold snap.

Viewers have also been writing in with their useful hints and tips for other avid gardeners.

As for when the show will return, Monty confirmed there will be three special episodes before the end of the year.

They will highlight the best bits of the weekly series so far, so fans have plenty more to look forward to.

He said: “As we come to an end of another quite difficult and strange year, I don’t think gardens have ever been more important and given so much pleasure and comfort to so many people than they do now.”

There is also usually a small number of winter special episodes that air in late January.

The first of these for the 2021 series began on January 20, so hopefully the same can be expected for January 2022.

The official Twitter account for the programme said: “We may be coming to the end of the growing season, but there’s still plenty to be getting on with in the garden.

“Good job Monty, Nell & Patti are on hand TONIGHT to tell us what to do! See you at 8pm @BBCTwo.”

Linda Stevens responded: “Looking forward to it. Will make the most of this evenings episode. Thanks for all the inspiration and advice this year.”

Paul Gratton added: “I will certainly be watching tonight. Be great to get all the tips/help in preparing for next spring. I need all the help I can get. Looking forward to tonight’s programme.”

Sadly it’ll be the last fans see of Monty and the gang for the rest of the year.

Monty shared a photo of some golden leaves on the ground ahead of the final episode.

He said: “The leaves are tumbling down and tonight is the last of this season’s regular Gardeners’ World.”

Some fans have called for a Christmas special, as they are keen for more calming and inspirational content.

Dr Shireen Chilcott said: “Such a shame it’s the final episode of this season’s #GardenersWorld. I really miss this show through the winter months!”

Madam Defarge said: “Enjoy the break. I love watching the show during our winter. Spring is ramping up here, my dahlias are up already, first roses are in bloom, perennials and natives are taking off.”

The series attracts fans from all over the globe as it is available to watch on the streaming service, BritBox.

Fans will have to wait until the new year before they see Monty and the other presenters return to their gardens.

Patrick D Cregg said: “It will be a long winter without our Friday evening without @GWandShows.”

There is still plenty to look forward to on the BBC, with Autumnwatch and Winterwatch kicking off soon.

Autumnwatch begins on BBC Two on October 26 at 8pm.

Gardeners’ World is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
