JODIE Whittaker is rumoured to be leaving her role as the Doctor, leaving space for a new face to take on the iconic role.
We look at who are currently the bookies favourites to play Doctor Who.
Who will be the next Doctor Who?
These are some of the top favourites to take over the role along with their odds according to Paddy Power.
Kris Marshall 10/1
Kris Marshall is best known for My Family and Love Actually.
It's not the first time he's been rumoured to be the doctor and the rumours have amped up again after he confirmed that the current series of Death In Paradise would be his last.
This would mean he could fly back to the UK for filming.
Michaela Coel 4/1
Michaela Coel has risen to fame over the last year since the release of her critically acclaimed I May Destroy You.
She's also starred in other cult shows like Black Mirror and Top Boy.
In the 2021 Golden Globe nominations list, she didn't feature – much to the shock of other industry professionals.
Olly Alexander 6/1
The Years and Years singer made his acting debut in the critically acclaimed It's A Sin.
His performance was praised so highly that it's likely this is the start of a long acting career for the multi-talent.
John Barrowman has fuelled rumours after telling Lorraine: "Olly would be amazing – he's quirky, he's fun, he's a lovely actor and I think he would make a wonderful Doctor."
Phoebe Waller-Bridge 8/1
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been well loved by the public since the major success of Fleabag – a hit TV show that started as a solo Edinburgh fringe performance.
She's just worked on the new 007 film and reportedly earned £7million for that gig.
She previously was the favourite before Jodie got the role and in 2017 said: "Um, it’d be cool, but I might be doing other stuff."
Richard Ayoade 8/1
Funny man Richard Ayoade is known for his quirky style, making him suitable for the Doctor.
The BAFTA winner is best known for starring in The IT Crowd and hosting The Crystal Maze, among other shows.
He's also done voice acting for The Mandalorian.
When is Jodie Whittaker leaving Doctor Who?
It was reported by the Daily Mirror that Jodie Whittaker is rumored to leave after three series in the role.
Critics have been disappointed by this news as she's had far less time in the role than her male predecessors.
The BBC declined to comment either way on the future of the role, telling Digital Spy: "We won't be commenting on any speculation around Jodie's future on the show."
If the news is true, it's likely that Jodie will leave after the upcoming 2021 series.
When will the next series of Doctor Who be on TV?
The next series of Doctor Who will air later on in 2021.
There is no official premiere date for the 13th series as of yet.
