Former BBC Breakfast host Bill Turnbull, 65, previously fronted the show alongside Susanna Reid, 50, until she made her move to Good Morning Britain in 2014. The Classic FM DJ has now reacted to a social media user, after they shared a memorable throwback photo on Twitter.
The person in question took to the micro-blogging site and shared a series of photos of Bill and Susanna when the programme had moved to their new studios in Salford, Manchester.
The youthful presenting duo beamed at the camera in their newly designed broadcasting room.
The Twitter user penned: “#OnThisDay 2012: BBC Breakfast began broadcasting from its new studio at Salford, the images are from that first day, with @billtu and @susannareid100 presenting.”
Bill took the opportunity to respond to the post, as he recalled the moment fondly but admitted that unbeknownst to viewers they suffered a technical blunder.
In view of his 100,000 followers, he penned: “And we had a power cut to celebrate.”
Susanna co-presented BBC Breakfast alongside Bill from 2003 until her exit a decade later in 2014.
The broadcaster went on to front Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan joining the ITV newsroom a year later but he has since left the programme.
Bill stepped down from his role after 15 years and presented his last episode, with Louise Minchin, in 2016.
At the time of his departure, the Breakfast host said his tenure was “more than enough for me and the audience. So it is a good time to call it a day and do something else”.
“It was a long-term decision. I could see this coming up, and it was always the plan.”
He said he wanted to spend more time beekeeping, which he said he had been “neglecting for far too long”.
Meanwhile, Bill recently had cause to celebrate after the radio DJ marked his five-year anniversary at Classic FM.
