Child star Roman Griffin Davis shares how school pals reacted to his Golden Globe nomination

He's been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in Jojo Rabbit, but 14 year old Roman Griffin Davis seems completely unaware of just how famous he has become.

The highly talented teenager, who starred alongside Scarlett Johansson in Jojo Rabbit, spoke to OK! on the red carpet of his new A-list film Silent Night, and told us how his school pals have reacted to his acting success.

"My friends really don't care about the fame and acting," Roman told us, adding that his main reason for choosing his career was to "escape school."

He playfully shared: "The want to get out of school inspired me to get into acting! I am still at school though, but I'm half way there."

Roman was walking the red carpet alongside his brothers, twins Gilby and Hardy, and director mum Camille Griffin.

Silent Night, starring the likes acting royalty Keira Knightly and Matthew Goode, is something of a family project for Roman, whose brothers also star in the film, which has been directed by their mum Camille.

The unique comedy sees Roman playing Art, as a family invite their loved ones around for a Christmas dinner which takes a rather sinister turn as we learn the world is ending, and surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.

When asked whether Christmas is as chaotic in his household, Roman told us: "Christmas in my house is very dysfunctional. We decorate the Christmas tree and then mum will just move it all around."

He added: "It was surreal acting with my brothers. There were some scenes when it felt awfully like I was at home. I'd do a scene and then think, 'wait the cameras are on.'"

Roman expressed his gratitude working alongside the people he had in Silent Night, including producer Claudia Schiffer.

"There are a lot of people I'd love to act with. Everyone who I've just worked with in the film I just starred in were all amazing people to work alongside. I can't tell you one person in particular I'd love to act with," Roman added.

Despite his on-screen success, Roman "finds it weird" watching himself back, admitting it "makes him nervous."

Roman's nerves being hard to believe when you see the smart teen walking the red carpet with pride, amongst huge Hollywood stars.

And watch this space for this award-nominated star, as Roman shared that he has a few projects in the pipeline.

Silent Night is out in UK cinemas now, or you can also watch it in the comfort of your own home. It's available to rent for £4.99 or to buy for £9.99 from Amazon Prime Video, iTunes and other digital platforms.
