Dean Gaffney has vowed to be the "best looking grandfather in town" following the birth of his first grandchild at age 43.
Last week, the former EastEnders star expressed his delight after his daughter Chloe welcomed a little girl named Mimi with her partner Declan.
Humouring at the time that he "didn't look old enough to be a grandfather", Dean has now elaborated on the comment in a new interview with The Sun.
"I'll be one of the best-looking grandpas in town," he added. "I'm so proud. Lots of my mates are becoming dads, but I'm a grandad at the same age."
He added: "I'm hoping people will see me pushing a pram in the street and go, 'Oh, is that your child?'
"Because although I've got grey hair, I don't think I look like a grandad just yet."
Dean explained that he would be calling his pal Danny Dyer for "tips", as he is one of the only people he knows who is also a grandad at 43.
Despite his joy over the news his daughter welcomed a child, the soap star admitted he would be steering clear of changing nappies because he has the "worst gag reflex".
Days earlier, Dean revealed he had become a granddad in a sweet announcement shared on his Instagram account.
"I am very happy to announce I am a GRANDAD. I can't believe my baby is now a mother, proud is an understatement," he added.
"Welcome to this crazy world, my beautiful granddaughter Mimi," the besotted actor wrote in the caption alongside a snap of him cradling the newborn.
Dean added: "Chloe and Declan you're going to be amazing parents. X
"Baby Mimi, born: 07.07.2021.. 7 pound 14oz."
Dean, best known for his role as Robbie Jackson, is dad to Chloe and her twin sister Charlotte with his former childhood sweetheart Sarah Burge.
