Dan Walker, 44, praised Adam Peaty, 26, for bouncing back after his and Katya Jones’ Quickstep received 20 out of 40 points last weekend. In the latest episode of the show, the dancing duo came back fighting with an intimate Argentine Tango which earned them 30 points.

While they pulled out a series of lifts and impressive moves, it was the end of their performance which had viewers talking.

Eagle-eyed Strictly fans claimed that Adam was about to kiss his dance partner after they finished.

Despite the controversy, the sportsman has hit back insisting that peoples’ accusations were far from the truth in a defiant statement.

He went on to say the routine was his favourite performance so far.

BBC Breakfast star Dan, who is also competing on the show, praised the swimmer for his efforts on the post.

In view of his 726,000 followers, he wrote: “The lifts were incredible boss. Great way to bounce back.”

Alongside a video of the routine, Adam commented: “My favourite dance so far.

“Thank you to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it.

“To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences.

“I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip. Protect your energy.”

Adam’s girlfriend Eirianedd Munroe seemingly mocked the moment on her TikTok page last night.

The 23-year-old pretended to cry as she wrote that her boyfriend “almost kissed” Katya.

The caption on her post read: “Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV.”

She then whipped her hair as she pretended to scream while the words, “Finding out 10 million people also watched it live”, were written across the video.

Adam and his girlfriend share a son named George together, who they welcomed back in September 2020.

Elsewhere, Dan was asked about his marriage while on Strictly by Jimmy Carr earlier this month.

“We’re a couple of weeks in now,” the comedian joked, referencing the so-called curse on BBC Breakfast.

The term “curse” has been used to describe relationship break-ups involving the contestants or professionals on Strictly Come Dancing.

The presenter went on to say: “I am fine, I have got no problem with it.”

He added his wife Sara was “having a lovely time” getting to know his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova.
